Mark and Diann moved to Marietta in August of 2003 and have lived here ever since! They fell in love with the area and its community of exceptional people. That is what motivated them to buy the franchise and still keeps them going today. They truly enjoy helping homeowners maintain and improve their homes. With three adult children and their spouses, five grandsons and Diann's mother living with them, their life is full of lots of fun and family. When they aren't working or with family, they are active in their church community, hiking, reading or in the garden.

After 34 years in a professional career in banking, Mark had enough of the corporate world. He started Five Star Painting / Marietta in 2013 and currently handles the estimates and general management. "I wanted to work in my community, know my neighbors, and work for them. And after 11 years, we've made new friends and continue to provide a top quality service." -
Jay Swartzell
Project Manager
Jay has been with Five Star Marietta for 3 years and is responsible for completing jobs. He spent the previous 20 years working on crews, working his way up to foreman on a wide variety of painting work. He oversaw the re-painting of much of the Syracuse University campus, and the Lockheed plant in Syracuse, before re-locating to Dallas, GA. Much of our Five Star reputation is the result of his extensive knowledge of coatings, and best practices. Jay also loves to do carpentry work at home and on the job; and is a master gardener. -
Diann Averett
Office Manager
Diann handles our scheduling, helps with color coordination and generally keeps the rest of us in line. After raising 3 children and working off and on as a teacher, she has brought her critical eye for color and "classroom" management skills to the paint business insuring a smooth process for our customers.
